Indiana Campus Compact is seeking an Executive Director.

Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) is a consortium of college and university presidents and chancellors in the State of Indiana who have made a collective and public commitment for their campuses to be engaged in and with their communities in mutually meaningful ways. The organization works as an agent of change on behalf of its member campuses to advance citizenship and service as critical components of the higher learning experience by providing programs and services to enhance the civic missions of colleges and universities. ICC represents a unique state-wide higher education network in Indiana that embraces public, private, four-year and two-year colleges and universities that has developed longstanding member and foundation relationships.
The Executive Director of ICC serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is the champion for community-campus engagement on behalf of the Compact. The Executive Director leads ICC in the identification of strategic priorities, the articulation of the Compact's vision and the achievement of its goals; is responsible for the operational (fiscal, programmatic, and organizational) management and development of the Compact; cultivates strategic partnerships with private and corporate foundations, grant-makers, and individual donors; promotes awareness of the Compact and community engagement/engaged-learning to member campuses and future member campuses during regular visits; and recruits campuses to join the Compact.
ICC is an affiliate of Campus Compact, a national organization based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Board of Directors, lead ICC in the development of strategic goals and implementation of programs and activities that fulfill the Compact's mission and vision.
- Serve as the convener of a dynamic statewide higher education network in support of campus-community engagement, promoting awareness of the Compact and community engagement/engaged-learning to member campuses, future member campuses, and key stakeholders. Serve as a liaison to National Campus Compact.
- Provide leadership in overseeing the development of member services, meaningful programs, professional development activities, and initiatives by the ICC staff in consultation with engagement practitioners on member campuses and in partner organizations.
- Ensure that provisions of contracts are met. Keep official records and documents pertaining to the affiliation agreement between ICC and Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis.
- Manage the ICC office and provide leadership and guidance for the staff.
- Effectively and efficiently manage and monitor ICC fiscal affairs, develop the annual operating budget in conjunction with the ICC staff and the Board of Directors, and work in tandem with the ICC Associate Director on corporate and foundation budgets and contracts.
- Oversee fund development and strategic partnerships to ensure sufficient resources to maintain and grow ICC's core services and to fulfill the organization's mission, including actively identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and securing funding opportunities through fees for service, partnerships with private and corporate foundations, donor campaigns, and member campus recruitment and retention.
- Research, analyze, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding finances, administrative functions, marketing/public relations, fund development, and strategic partnerships to best serve the ICC operations, mission, and member campuses.
To be successful, candidates should demonstrate leadership ability, student advocacy and a record of engagement in community affairs. Must possess excellent communication skills (persuasive writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills), together with strong leadership, collaborative and financial management (budget development and oversight) skills; fundraising/fund development; successful work with governing boards; and managing and maintaining strategic relationships.
Required: Master's degree from an accredited institution, plus at least 7 years of work experience. Areas of experience should include: leadership in higher education and/or the non-profit sector (must maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field of community engagement in higher education).
Preferred: Doctoral degree.
All staff members of ICC are hired as employees of Indiana University. ICC has a partner agency agreement with the university and the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is designated as ICC's host institution for the university.
