2022-2027 Strategic Planning Process
We welcome Gensyn Design as the leader and expert in moving us forward during our next strategic plan.
Gensyn Design employs Design-Thinking and Strategic Doing methods to provide groups with the structure and tools needed to collaborate and make decisions. In these interactive and inclusive workshops, participants have an active role to play, be engaged throughout the entire process, and know their input is incorporated into the final outcome.
Through our process, from September 2021 to April 2022, we will engage in five phases: opportunity, discovery, road mapping, development, and construction/review. Each phase informs the next, where generated data and input serve as building blocks for the final strategic plan: vision/mission, focus areas, goals, objectives/initiatives, and metrics.
We will release our new strategic plan in May 2022. We encourage you to check back often for updates.

Previous Strategic Plans
The 2015-2020 strategic plan will guide Indiana Campus Compact into our twenty-fifth anniversary as we prepare college students to advance the public good in their communities. The plan to Increase Indiana Higher Education’s Collective Impact on Communities presents a strategy that ties together a clear mission with clear goals and performance measures. The plan envisions Indiana Campus Compact as a national exemplar by equipping every student in every institution with the competence, confidence, humility, and experience to be well- informed, engaged citizens.
Indiana Campus Compact Board of Directors Chair and President of Valparaiso University Mark Heckler says, “The plan keeps us rooted in our history, but prepares us for life in a 21st century society. As our revised mission suggests, we will work as a partnership of campuses throughout the state of Indiana to advocate, implement, and improve service engagement so that our students graduate as well-informed, engaged, and productive members of society who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities—well beyond 2020."
When engaged in strategic planning, organizations come to understand their internal and external environment, examine mission enactment, determine immediate and long-term priorities, and invest volunteers, boards and staff in directing future activities (Allison & Kaye, 1997; Bryson, 2005; Kotter, 1994; Migliore, 1995; Salamon, 2003). Strategic planning is an opportunity to reflect on the past and determine a course of action to ensure future success (Bryson, 2005).
Indiana Campus Compact believes that an institution’s ethos is strengthened through involvement in the community. Institutions and communities collaborate to realize shared goals and, in turn, positively influence the other. Working under an existing plan, Indiana Campus Compact has helped members positively impact people’s lives through service-learning and civic engagement activities. While things are going well, the future is something for which Indiana Campus Compact must plan; therefore, now is a good time to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose. This plan is intended to advance Indiana Campus Compact’s sense of purpose.
