Event Details – Service Learning Institute: Mon. May 14 – Wed. May 16
The Indiana Campus Compact Service Learning Institute (SLI) is a hands-on opportunity for higher education service learning instructors, or staff who support service learning curriculum design, to learn how to build or refine a service learning course through the development of learning outcomes and quality service learning experiences, as well as craft meaningful assignments and reflection and assessment activities.
Targeted Audience: • Faculty and graduate students who are developing a service learning course; • Faculty, staff, and graduate students who support service learning course design.
Institute Objectives: • To increase the number of high quality service learning courses; • To share promising practices and generate new ideas; • To enhance reflection, assessment, and partnerships; • To build a network of service learning practitioners.
Institute Topics: • Designing courses for well-integrated service learning; • Creating and assessing learning outcomes; • Developing meaningful reflection activities; • Collaborating with community partners as co-educators; • Community engagement and faculty reward systems.
Event Details – Research Academy: Wed. May 16 – Fri. May 18 The IUPUI Research Academy is an interactive workshop to develop skills, learn about methods and literature, develop a research project and advance research related to service learning in higher education.
Targeted Audience: • Service learning researchers; faculty who are developing research projects, as well as graduate students; • Faculty and staff who want to facilitate faculty research on service learning.
