Help Those Affected By the Recent Southern Tornadoes.


Hoosiers wanting to lend a had in the southern Indiana tornado relief efforts can register their skills and contact information with the Indiana Volunteers Active in Disasters. INVOAD has established a reception center at 723 Spring Street in Jeffersonville.  The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone seeking to volunteer with storm relief should contact the center before making the trip: 812-287-0519.

Monetary Donations

The American Red Cross advises that anyone who wants to help with storm relief in Indiana and other areas of the Midwest and South can make donations to support Red Cross Disaster Relief.  To contribute, go to www.redcross.org, call (800) RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions also may be sent to local Red Cross chapters or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013. The address for contributions to the Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis is 441 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief is accepting monetary donations, and the group said 100 percent of the funds will be used in disaster relief. Contributions may be made through any United Methodist Church or online at www.umcor.org.
