Cogratulations to our award winners

There are a lot of things that happen at Indiana Campus Compact that I am grateful to be a part of each year. One of those things is recognizing outstanding individuals in the state for their contributions to student learning, local communities, and the work of Indiana Campus Compact.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s quite challenging to get to the point where we actually name the award winners because there are many deserving individuals who submit their names and   their work forward for consideration each year. However, reading each of the applications and making those decisions with our selection committees each year affirms why our work is so central to   meeting important needs in our communities and helping students learn.

This year we will be recognizing four individuals and one community partner for their ongoing service engagement activities at the Service Engagement Awards Reception and Ceremony on Thursday, March 29th.

The 2012 Indiana Campus Compact Service Engagement Award winners are:

  • Richard J. Wood Student Community Commitment Award, Erin Wright, University of Notre Dame
  • Brian Douglas Hiltunen Faculty Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Scholarship of Engagement, William (Bill) Oakes, Purdue University
  • Outstanding Community Service Director Award, Laura Weaver, Purdue University North Central
  • Outstanding Community Partner Award, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, nominated by Ball State University

In addition to the Service Engagement Awards, we will be honoring Robert (Bob) Bringle of IUPUI with the Indiana Campus Compact Legacy of Service award for his contributions to the success of Indiana Campus Compact and the field of community and service engagement. Bob has been a part of the Indiana Campus Compact network since we opened our doors 19 years ago and has made a lasting impact on all of our work. As Bob retires from IUPUI this spring, Indiana Campus Compact invites you to help us honor and celebrate his contributions to all of our work.

We hope to see at the Service Engagement Awards Reception and Ceremony on Thursday, March 29 as we recognize the accomplishments of these outstanding individuals and organizations.
