Opportunities to Showcase Your Work

In the past two weeks, two important deadlines that each require your campus to report data about the strong community and service engagement work your faculty, staff, and students are involved in have been announced. The first is the annual Campus Compact Membership Survey; the second is the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The information collected through each of these activities is used for unique purposes that will benefit your campus, Indiana Campus Compact, and the national service and service learning movement. The President’s Honor Roll provides an opportunity for national recognition for your individual campus, and like the work the data represents, provides an opportunity for us to elevate higher education’s commitment to being partners in their community and working with our neighbors to solve pressing problems. Information from the Membership Survey is used at the national and state level to develop partnerships, determine the need for programs and resources, and explore and secure external funding, while also providing an internal tracking tool for your campus to create benchmarks and goals.

As many of you know, the two initiatives ask for some similar information referencing the quantity, quality, and institutional commitment to service at your institution. We realize that collecting information for both the Membership Survey and the Honor Roll application is a time intensive team project which likely involves multiple departments. Our hope is that during the collaborative data collection process, your campus will not only collect the necessary quantitative data for the Membership Survey, but through the same process, also identify the qualitative impact that the Honor Roll requires you to report. We hope that you will encourage those on your campus who are responsible for collecting and reporting this information to pull this information together as a joint effort rather than as two independent activities.

We have sent a similar note to the faculty and staff liaisons who we have on record for your campus, but wanted to alert you to these two important deadlines and hope that you will encourage those individuals on your campus to take the time to complete both the Campus Compact Membership Survey and the President’s Higher Education Honor Roll Application.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the Campus Compact Membership Survey or the Presidents Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

With gratitude,

Maggie Stevens, Ed.D.
Executive Director, Indiana Campus Compact
