Pen to Paper: A Writing Retreat Focused on Writing With, For, and About Service and Engagement
August 26 - August 28
Indiana Campus Compact is pleased to be partnering with the University of Washington Bothell and Seattle and Washington Campus Compact to present the 2018 Pen to Paper Writing Retreat. The Retreat will take place August 26 – 28, 2018 at the Dumas Bay Centre just outside Seattle, Washington. The retreat center offers stunning views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, a perfect setting to settle in and focus.
Attendance is for this intensive Retreat is limited in order to foster personal connections between participants, journal editors, and Retreat facilitators, as well as to provide the ‘space’ for attendees to focus on their writing.
In order to ensure an optimal experience for all, Pen to Paper 2018 will once again offer two focus tracks for participants:
- Ready to Publish—for those who have a completed/nearly completed manuscript. These individuals are attending the Retreat to receive feedback from journal editors and to learn more about the various avenues available to publish their work.
- Ready to Write—for those whose research is complete/nearly complete and have a writing plan, but who have not yet begun the writing process. These individuals are attending the Retreat to fully plan their writing strategy and receive guidance as they begin the writing process.
For those who are planning to write and have begun to strategize about developing future research and writing project(s), we encourage you to attend the Connecting Campuses with Communities: Research Academy (CCC) workshop prior to attending next year’s Pen to Paper. CCC will help you prepare you for service-learning / community engagement research.
