ENGAGED CAMPUS AWARD

In its second year, this award recognizes Indiana institutions of higher education for exemplary commitment to advancing the civic purposes of higher education.

These institutions demonstrate their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Service engagement is part of their campus culture and their faculty, staff, and students are connected to their community in meaningful, lasting ways. These institutions support the work of faculty and staff who are helping students become well-informed, engaged and productive members of society, who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities.

BRIAN DOUGLAS HILTUNEN AWARD FOR THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE SCHOLARSHIP OF ENGAGEMENT

The Brian Douglas Hiltunen Award is presented annually to recognize faculty at Indiana Campus Compact member campuses who are exemplars of the scholarship of engagement. These faculty members are leaders in the field and they share their knowledge with colleagues, students, and the community. The make lasting impact through research, service, and teaching. These faculty members are helping students become well-informed, engaged and productive members of society, who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities.

RICHARD J. WOOD STUDENT COMMUNITY COMMITMENT AWARD

The Richard J. Wood Award was established to recognize students at Indiana Campus Compact member campuses who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community engagement. These students have a passion for social justice and improving people’s lives. They think of creative and substantive ways to be part of their communities’ ecosystem, helping them thrive and grow. These students are well-informed, engaged and productive members of society, who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE DIRECTOR AWARD

This award honors professional staff who facilitate and inspire service engagement to create campus and community connections. These staff members develop partnerships for faculty and students with community agencies. They research funding, professional development opportunities, they act as liaisons between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, and they are champions for service engagement across the campus. These staff members are helping students become well-informed, engaged and productive members of society, who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities.

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY PARTNER AWARD

The Indiana Campus Compact Outstanding Community Partner award recognizes an outstanding community partner organization and its staff and volunteers for their partnership with an Indiana Campus Compact member institution to educate and empower students while providing a positive impact in their communities. These community partners are co-educators for your students. They are your laboratory for community-based research. They are venues in which you perform community service and deepen your knowledge of and passion for the communities where you work and live. Through their work with you and your students, these community partners are helping students become well-informed, engaged and productive members of society, who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities.
