About

Indiana Campus Compact welcomes new board chair

Linda Bennett bwWhile you likely know the staff at Indiana Campus Compact, you may be less familiar with the two groups that support our work behind the scenes through governance and program and strategic advice. The first of these groups is the Indiana Campus Compact Board of Directors. As we thank Chancellor Jerrilee Mosier of Ivy Tech Community College Northeast for her service as our chair this past year, we are honored to welcome, President Linda Bennett, of the University of Southern Indiana to serve as chair of the Indiana Campus Compact Board of Directors.

President Bennett has served on the Indiana Campus Compact Board since assuming the presidency of the University of Southern Indiana in 2009. She joined the executive committee of the board a year ago as the Chair-Elect. Prior to moving into the president’s role at USI, President Bennett served as its provost for six years. In each of these roles, she has been a dedicated supporter of Indiana Campus Compact and an advocate for service engagement on the USI campus.

Of her engagement with Indiana Campus Compact President Bennett says, “As important as higher education’s role is in economic development, there is a more elemental role that we serve in education for engaged citizenship.  Our democracy will not thrive without an engaged, informed citizenry and that endeavor is the mission of Campus Compact. It is an honor to serve as chair of the Indiana Campus Compact Board.  Its leadership and staff have established ICC as a leader in the Campus Compact network.”

Over the next year, the board will be exploring our business and operating models to ensure that they are effective, efficient, and best serving our mission and members.

In addition, I’d like to welcome President Dan Bradley of Indiana State University and Dr. Donald Braid of Butler University to our board.

The second group that works closely with the Indiana Campus Compact staff is the Indiana Campus Compact Advisory Council. This summer, Dr. Donald Braid of Butler University assumed leadership of the Advisory Council, following two years of service by Stephanie Moran of Anderson University as chair. The Advisory Council also welcomes Katrina Boedeker of the University from Saint Francis, Cynthia Kumfer from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, and Margaret Sass from Purdue University.   Each year, the Advisory Council provides ICC staff with input in programming, feedback on ideas, and support in reaching other members. Additionally, this year they will provide support as needed to the Board of Directors in their examination of ICC’s business and operating systems.

With gratitude,

Maggie Stevens

Indiana Campus Compact Executive Director
